Restart
The last press release from Etna Trail was from 2024 and was titled “End of the Race”:
Painfully, but thoughtfully and confidently, he informed stakeholders of the Board of Directors' unanimous desire to end an exciting experience that had lasted more than a decade.
The reactions to that statement were hundreds, passionate, grateful, even emotional, encouraging us to continue despite everything. A vibrant testimony of emotions experienced (ours) and shared; once again, the only true motivating force behind a body of work that over the years had sparked enthusiasm and engaged a community of people who, at event after event, had committed themselves tirelessly to proudly contribute to the success of sporting events that saw everyone equally as protagonists in a mega-advertisement aimed at lively glorifying Europe's tallest volcano.
Two sentiments emerged from that statement: one related to a general weariness of organizing and the other, not too veiled, of "disappointment" towards public institutions perceived in general as "not very close" and, in particular, as unwilling to ease the bureaucratic-administrative burden of authorization requests.
Today, Etna Trail is reconsidering its decision, responding to the request of a community represented by the mayors of the municipalities through which the event passes (Fiumefreddo di Sicilia, Piedimonte Etneo, Castiglione di Sicilia, and Linguaglossa), who are clamoring to return to being a destination for a world of passionate sports enthusiasts.
The change of direction from the 2024 decision is partial because it concerns the organization of the Etna Super Marathon - from Zero to Tremila only, in the hope that in the meantime a generational change of the current organizers can take place.
The appointment is already set in continuity with the past for the second Saturday of the month of June (13-06-2026).
We look forward to meeting you again.
