A challenge against the volcano

The SuperMarathon - from 0 to 3000, is a spectacular race on mixed terrain: the first part of the race, 33km, takes place on asphalt and cobblestones, the second - and more difficult - on dirt. The second segment of the race is also the one with the most challenging elevation gain: 1000m+ in 10km.

The 500 athletes will set off from the splendid beach of Marina di Cottone, in the municipality of Fiumefreddo di Sicilia, before heading towards the city centre and from there continuing on to the towns of Piedimonte Etneo and Linguaglossa. After crossing the town center of Linguaglossa, take the Strada Mareneve, among vineyards and ancient lava flows, until you cross the wonderful Bosco Ragabo.

When the vegetation becomes sparser, it's a sign that you're about to enter the most challenging part of the race: the Piano Provenzana checkpoint marks the transition from asphalt to dirt.

The final ten kilometers are a challenge within a challenge: with breathtaking views and lunar landscapes, among new and ancient volcanic cones and majestic lava flows.

The arrival at Piano delle Concazze, a vast terrace of lava scree, is the penultimate act of this fantastic race: there is only one last, extremely steep climb before crossing, after 43 grueling kilometers, the finish line.
